The OneBagFull Community Food Drive is returning to communities across New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, uniting residents, congregations, and community partners to help those facing food insecurity. Volunteers will deliver door hangers mid-week (April 28 or 29, depending on community), with donation collection set for Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m. This third annual effort is coordinated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in partnership with FeedNB and local community organizers. Volunteers will deliver door hangers inviting neighbours to fill one bag with non-perishable food items. Organizers say the campaign makes giving simple, local, and meaningful while strengthening the community response to hunger. “Community partnerships make a real difference,” said Katherine Hann, Provincial Coordinator of OneBagFull. “This door-to-door campaign delivers donation requests directly to households with a tangible, low-effort ask. Past responses have been remarkable - we are surrounded by generosity.” FeedNB supports a substantial provincial network focused on food rescue and distribution, school breakfast programs and logistical aid to community agencies.“Demand at our food banks has reached historic highs across New Brunswick. Initiatives like OneBagFull are essential because they mobilize neighbourhoods right at their doorstep. Every filled bag is a testament to solidarity that provides concrete help to a family in our community, ensuring they don’t have to skip a meal.” Stephane Sirois, executive director, Feed NB. In Prince Edward Island, community food initiatives play a vital role in addressing local food insecurity. OneBagFull organizers encourage participation from congregations of all denominations, faiths, schools, businesses, and service groups to deliver door hangers and collect donations.
