Our Why:
1. Every year for over 25 years, students at both Penticton Secondary school, and Princess Margaret Secondary have collected food donations from the community with the goal of collecting at least 10,000 non-perishable items to donate to the Penticton Food Bank. The Food Bank relies on this event as it stocks up their supplies well into the new year
2. Since the pandemic, there has been increased visits to the food bank both locally and nationally. In the last few years especially, inflation has caused more community members to face food insecurity.
Things To Note:
Food items can be dropped off at both high schools
We will be working with numerous grocery stores to have their locations be drop off sites as well
We have created a monetary donation site through the our school district site here.
Students will be dropping flyers off at homes in the week prior to the food collection night with information regarding the event. On November 21st students will come by homes after 5:30 pm to pick up food items that have been left at the end of a driveway or on a doorstep.
