An incredible wealth of artistic talent is lighting up Penticton at the end of March. The 3rd Annual Ignite the Arts Festival features an incredible number of events and workshops over Spring Break culminating with an explosion of music and art on the Easter Long Weekend, March 29 – 31, with nine downtown venues and over 60 musical and performing acts from across Canada and beyond.
The festival is broken up into two art-filled segments, Ignite Community Week, March 22 – 28 and the Ignite Festival Weekend, March 29 – 31.
Ignite Community Week features numerous events, exhibitions and intensive workshops in partnership with organizations such as the Penticton Art Gallery and Penticton Arts Council who are presenting a city-wide Art Walk and Exhibition Openings on March 23, the Penticton Academy of Music are presenting both an Adult Songwriting Bootcamp and a Youth Songwriting Workshop, the En’owkin Centre who are presenting a night of Indigenous Storytelling at the Dream Café on March 27, and 2 Rivers Remix who are presenting a free night of Contemporary Indigenous Music at the Cleland Theatre on March 28.
Starting on Friday, March 29 and running till Sunday, March 31 the Ignite Festival Weekend is three days of non-stop music, performance, art, and workshops running in nine venues in downtown Penticton including the Elks Hall, Dream Café, Tempest Theatre, BritBar, Legacy Den, Highway 97 Brewery, Cannery Brewing, Cleland Theatre, the SS Sicamous, and the Penticton Art Gallery. Festivalgoers can cruise between venues and experience incredible music and art while soaking up the vibrant community atmosphere of downtown Penticton. The festival's lineup features something for everyone, from folk to electronic to spoken word and hip hop, as well as live theatre, dance, clowns, workshops, exhibitions, and a good dose of programming for kids and music to get you dancing.
